Welcome!

With our trip to China fast approaching, I thought it was time to post our first update. We will be traveling to China on August 3, 2007, for the first time since going to get the girls in 1998 and 2001. We are so excited about being able to bring the girls back to their birth country so that we can experience as a family their rich culture and heritage.

We have already posted our detailed itinerary so that you'll know where we'll be going and and what we'll be doing. Although this trip will be a wonderful vacation for us all, we are especially excited about being able to introduce the girls to their homeland. We hope that it will help them feel a real connection to the beautiful country where they were born.

Itinerary For Our China Trip

Children’s Bridge Roots-Seeking Tour 2007








Saturday 8/04: Arrive Beijing. Stay at Jianguo Garden Hotel.

Sunday 8/05: Orientation in the morning. Children fitted for Cheongsam. Visit Tiananmen Square and the Forbidden City in the afternoon.


Monday 8/06: Visit Bridge of Love Adoption Services for a brief Chinese history & language lesson. Go to the Summer Palace in the afternoon.


Tuesday 8/07: Watch the national flag raising ceremony in the early morning. Then learn Tai Chi in a local park. Visit the China Children’s Centre and participate in arts and crafts according to your child’s interest. Visit the zoo to see the Giant Panda.


Wednesday 8/08: Travel to Jinshanling Great Wall for a hike. Go to Chengde, Hebei Province. Stay at Shenghua Hotel.


Thursday 8/09: Morning tour in Chengde. Then back to Beijing to transfer to train for overnight trip to Xi’an.


Friday 8/10: Arrive in Xi’an. Stay at Shangri-La Golden Flower Hotel. Tour Terracotta Warriors Site. Enjoy a performance of the Tang Dynasty and a dumpling banquet in the evening.


Saturday 8/11: Visit the Big Wild Goose Pagoda and Xi’an Ancient Rampart. Visit Muslim market in the afternoon.


Sunday 8/12: Take flight from Xi’an to Nanchang, check in the Gloria Plaza Hotel Nanchang


Monday 8/13: Take bus to visit the Guixi orphanage and back to Nanchang in the afternoon


Tuesday 8/14: Take flight from Nanchang to Nanjing, check in the Central Hotel Nanjing


Wednesday 8/15: Visit the Changzhou orphanage and back to Nanjing in the afternoon


Thursday 8/16: Visit the Sun Yat Sen Memorial Garden in the morning, and have a free time in the afternoon


Friday 8/17: Have a day trip in Suzhou and arrive in Shanghai, check in the Ramada Plaza Shanghai.


Saturday 8/18: Have a day trip to Zhouzhuang


Sunday 8/19: Visit the Yuyuan Garden in the morning, departure in the afternoon
